Hillam Architects, in close collaboration with Edge Visionary Living and a highly skilled consultant team, have produced a thoughtfully considered design, approved by the City of South Perth and the Design Review Panel on the basis of architectural merit.

At ground level, the podium integrates a dynamic and fluid design, echoing the gentle settling of sediments and earthy tones of the banks of the Derbal Yerrigan (Swan River), reflecting the Whadjuk name for the river bend near Harper Terrace, ‘Gaboodjoolup’ (Place of the Shore), which remains culturally significant for First Nation’s peoples as a meeting point of land and water.

Hillam Architects’ design exceeds planning requirements for sustainability, achieving an average 7-star NatHERS rating. This project is targeting a 4 Star Green Star Buildings rating, representing best practice in better, healthier and more responsible buildings.

Environmental consultants EMF Griffiths said the project has set “real and attainable goals to achieve a superior design outcome”.

At street level, the development will introduce highly activated commercial tenancies along Harper Terrace. These will include fine dining and a corner café with panoramic river views, lush landscaping, and integrated artwork from the feature canopy traversing the wall and into the public realm.

Along the Esplanade frontage, the development transitions to a more residential character, incorporating generous setbacks and landscaping to ensure a seamless interface with the neighbouring residential properties.

The landscape design, curated by See Design Studio, prioritises the use of native plant species, further embedding the development within its natural and cultural context.
