This coastal design competition concept was submitted for a private brief requesting a beach-front luxurious residential apartment block, maximising ocean views and northern sunlight.
The building’s architecture was largely informed by the coastal landscape. By designing the edges of the building and expressing fluid-like façade elements, the building tips it’s hat to the waves and the undulating sand-dunes. Careful consideration was taken to maximise the views and reduce the visual bulk of the building.
The arrangement of the open-space maximises northern light to the pool and views to the beach. It is envisioned as a multi-use space that will bring the occupants together. An array of amenity including a pool, sauna/steam, playground, communal lounge and BBQ area will ensure everybody is catered for. Careful consideration will be put into planting choice and sculptural screens to provide shade and protect from the south-westerly winds.
