Cool in summer. Cosy in winter.

This modern Quindalup family home is close to the popular south-western coastal town of Yallingup. It’s perched on a ridge overlooking a vineyard, rugged natural bushland and with stunning views of nearby Geographe Bay.

Naturally, our client wanted to make the most of this spectacular outlook, and so our design was essentially a linear layout placing the main living areas at the best vantage points.

An extensive deck projects from these living areas connecting the inside with the outside to encourage an easy-going, relaxed lifestyle.

The building is appropriately-finished in acrylic render, aluminium and stainless steel metal work, and treated hardwoods to reflect and withstand the coastal environment.

High ceilings and strategically-placed louvered windows capture the south-westerly sea breeze and allow natural ventilation to cool the house in summer. Extensive roof overhangs and existing mature trees reduce the heat load to the eastern and western facades.

The double-glazed windows ensure winter comfort by retaining the warmth of the wood-burning fireplace.
