Ember Pendant

The Ember Pendant was designed in response to the brief of creating a striking lighting solution to sit above a kitchen island bench. The concept explores ideas of paper folding, as well as the different ways transparency has been used in other lighting applications such as lanterns. The design settled around the idea of a singular piece of material folding and bending around a series of canisters to form the pendant.

The lighting structure is simple in design, three black light canisters threaded onto a singular connecting rod. The single sheet of pressed metal is delicately attached to the canisters, creating an interesting juxtaposition between the structure and form. The pressed forms and perforations create varying material layers, as one moves around the pendant, the shape, transparency and light patterns change.
